JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Defence Digital as a Lead Data Analyst. This expert-level position requires an individual who can drive innovation in analysis and synthesis techniques whilst maintaining the highest standards of data governance and quality assurance. You will serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data insights into actionable business intelligence that supports Defence Digital’s mission.
As Lead Data Analyst you will have comprehensive responsibility for data management processes, from establishing governance frameworks to implementing cutting-edge visualisation strategies. The position demands expertise in statistical methods, project management, and the ability to mentor and develop others within the analytics community. You’ll work with diverse data sources and systems, ensuring data quality and validation whilst building relationships with senior data professionals across various specialisms including data architecture, engineering, and data science.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

HYBRID WORKING

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of business information tools)
  • Identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems
  • Manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data alongside a range of analytical studies on that data
  • Manipulate and link different data sets
  • Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, keeping them informed through clear, concise communication and regular updates, while ensuring their priorities and expectations are effectively managed.

To be successful in the role of Lead Data Analyst you will bring experience of;

  • Data analysis in a senior or lead capacity, demonstrating leadership of projects or small teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering actionable insights that have driven business outcomes.
  • Data manipulation, cleaning, and transformation from various data sources.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining data dashboards and reports for diverse stakeholders.
  • Working in an agile development environment
