JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Defence Intelligence (DI) Capability Assessments (CA) Science and Technology (ST) team as an all-source intelligence analyst as a specialist in one of our areas of focus:

  • Novel materials technology – manufacturing technologies, batteries/power, advanced materials, biotechnologies, critical minerals
  • Future sensing technologies – electro-optics, lasers, quantum, novel materials, advanced electronics
  • Future computing – brain/computer interface, AI, quantum, future communications, advanced electronics.

The ST team assesses information related to emerging and enabling science and technology, and its impact on the Defence capability of our adversaries. The team works across Defence and wider Government on threat science and technology, with our assessments providing critical advice t in understanding the impact of the developing science and technologies threats posed by countries of concern.

JOB DESCRIPTION

In an increasingly complex threat environment, novel and emerging technologies can develop into game-changing capabilities relevant to Defence. An opportunity exists to join a busy and well-respected team of scientists and technologists within Defence Intelligence in one of the technology themes of interest:

  • Novel materials technology – manufacturing technologies, batteries/power, advanced materials, biotechnologies, critical minerals
  • Future sensing technologies – electro-optics, lasers, quantum, novel materials, advanced electronics
  • Future computing – brain/computer interface, AI, quantum, future communications, advanced electronics.

Working in an exciting and impactful area of Defence Intelligence, the Science and Technology team delivers analysis and deep technical insight to a broad range of UK and international customers. This is an all-source intelligence assessment role, using information from open, technical and classified sources to produce robust and forward-looking assessments of adversaries’ Defence-related science and technology developments.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a science and/or technical background and an interest in the application of intelligence to solve Defence’s challenges. This position will provide a supportive environment and a fascinating set of topics on which to develop assessment skills as well as professional science and technology expertise.
