Description

Oulton College is looking for a Defensive Tactics instructor on a contract basis. The course prepares students to work safely and effectively in law enforcement or security settings. This course emphasizes critical thinking, situational awareness, and tactical decision-making while equipping students with practical skills and best practices relevant to law enforcement personnel.
Some of the responsibilities you can expect are:

Deliver engaging and practical instruction in defensive tactics.

Implement lesson plans aligned with learning outcomes.

Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervise student practice of techniques.

Evaluate student performance through both practical and written assessments.

Incorporate real-world examples and best practices from policing, corrections, and security fields.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or professional training in law enforcement, policing, corrections, or related field.

  • Significant professional experience in law enforcement, corrections, or security, with demonstrated expertise in defensive tactics.

  • Knowledge of Canadian Criminal Code and authority for use of force.

  • Strong instructional, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous teaching or training experience is considered an asset.

  • Current certifications (defensive tactics, use of force, firearms safety, etc.) are an asset.
    Relevant post-secondary education and/or professional training in law enforcement, policing, corrections, or related field
