Description Job Title: Deli-Bakery Manager Position Summary: The Deli-Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the deli and bakery departments, ensuring they are well-stocked, organized, and meet sales and profitability goals. This position involves managing inventory, pricing, merchandising, and labor, while also ensuring all safety protocols and operational procedures are followed. The Deli-Bakery Manager will train and supervise department associates, ensure proper product ordering, receiving, storage, and rotation, and develop displays to attract customers and maximize sales. This role also includes a variety of other responsibilities to ensure a high level of service and operational excellence. General Purpose: The general purpose of the Deli-Bakery Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations of the deli and bakery departments, ensuring they meet or exceed sales, customer satisfaction, and safety standards. The manager will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment while leading and developing staff and maximizing department profitability. Position Responsibilities: Department Operations & Management: Oversee all daily operations of the deli and bakery departments, ensuring proper product preparation, customer service, and department cleanliness. Inventory Control: Plan, order, and manage inventory levels for deli and bakery products to ensure the departments are stocked with high-quality, fresh items. Monitor and rotate stock regularly to minimize waste and ensure product freshness. Pricing & Merchandising: Audit pricing for deli and bakery items. Plan and implement merchandising strategies to create visually appealing displays that drive sales and attract customers. Labor Management: Schedule team members based on business needs to ensure proper staffing levels during peak hours. Supervise and train new team members on proper equipment use, safety protocols, and operational procedures. Training & Supervision: Ensure all deli and bakery associates are trained in food safety, proper equipment handling, and customer service techniques. Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and feedback to ensure quality standards are met. Customer Service: Lead by example in providing excellent customer service. Assist customers with inquiries, special requests, and custom orders to meet their needs and enhance their shopping experience. Safety Compliance: Ensure all associates adhere to safety and health regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures. Ensure that equipment is used safely and maintained in good working condition. Ordering, Receiving, & Storage: Oversee the ordering, receiving, and storage of all deli and bakery products. Ensure that products are stored correctly, labeled appropriately, and rotated regularly to meet food safety standards. Display Management: Build and maintain attractive product displays that highlight key items, seasonal promotions, and new products. Ensure that displays are replenished and well-maintained throughout the day. Profitability & Sales Maximization: Work to maximize sales and gross profit through efficient operations, cost control, and effective use of labor. Analyze sales trends and adjust product offerings and inventory as needed. Other Duties as assigned: Willingness to carry out other duties as assigned by upper management based on the needs of the business. Customer Service: Strong customer service skills and the ability to address customer needs and concerns effectively. Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods. Ability to work in a kitchen or food preparation area. Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to food handling, kitchen equipment, and sanitation. Safe Serv Certification preferred but not required.
