Description Zingerman’s DelicatessenCatering Production Manager Join Zingerman's Delicatessen as the Catering Production Manager! This position is responsible for every aspect of catering kitchen production including leadership and training of the production staff. This position is also responsible for coordinated communication with the Deli kitchen, Sandwich Line, Specialty Foods and Deli purchasing dept. Compensation: $55,000-$60,000 annual salary 3% of service fees (approximately $5,000 a year) in addition to base salary Full-time, Salaried position 45 to 50 hours per week, including mornings, some evenings, weekends, and holidays Compelling reasons to join us! Arrives on time for all scheduled shifts, meetings, and classes Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews for Catering Production staff, following the principles of Servant Leadership, Stewardship, and Zingerman's Entrepreneurial Approach Resolves any customer complaints that are "passed up" from staff and/or asks for help from the Catering Director or Catering Sales Manager Provides hands-on help to Kitchen and Sandwich Line staff when needed Passes all training requirements required of Catering Production, Kitchen, and Back of House staff Revises Catering training documents as needed Leads Catering Kitchen staff in cleaning and maintaining all Catering kitchen equipment and fixtures, coordinating with the cleaning crew when needed Maintains an organized and properly rotated Catering walk-in Assists in menu creation and revision when requested by the Catering Director or Event’s Manager Establishes and maintains good communication and a positive working relationship with the Deli management team. Establishes strong relationships with catering managers (sales, event, and service staff captains) Works at other locations and venues as needed, outside of the Deli Communicates menu details and changes effectively with the Kitchen and Production staff Manages monthly inventory Is responsible for ordering produce Places orders with the Specialty Foods dept. Maintaining good communication concerning Catering’s usage of Spec Foods product. Executes the event according to the specifications Assists in creating a vision for the future of the Catering Department The Success Patterns for this position are: Minimum 2-3 years experience in a high-end restaurant Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a manager or supervisor role High levels of emotional intelligence and ability to work effectively in a No-Drama workplace Experience in event planning and managing details of executing an event Inventory and costing experience preferred Strong computer skills: Caterease, Google docs, HRIS Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills Great problem solving skills, especially in-the-moment Serv-Safe food Certification Provides leadership that inspires teamwork, generates energy, enthusiasm, and drives results Has a reputation for excellent relations with customers, vendors, other ZCoB businesses, and Kitchen staff Has the ability to design, implement, and to continuously improve the systems and procedures that lead to success Has experience in the training and development of staff members Is self-directed and able to work independently, as well as be an integral member of the Delicatessen management team Has the ability to deliver the Zingerman's Experience to internal and external guests of Zingerman’s Catering and Events Able to work holidays, weekends, events, and other peak periods of the Catering business Willingness to ask for help and assistance where needed in order to get great food and service to guests Desired - Experience with Lean management, continuous improvement and Open Book Management Successful Candidates will have the following Personal Characteristics: An outgoing personality who can create and build energy around them Passionate about great food and great service Leadership style consistent with Zingerman's Guiding Principles and Servant Leadership Excellent planning, organization, and coordination skills Comfortable making decisions and problem solving, can handle complexity and paradox High level of interest in learning about food, people, and business Possesses strong interpersonal skills and able to work easily with diverse people and groups Has a valid Driver's License with no license restrictions Physical Requirements: Bending, stooping, walking, and standing for long periods at a time Must be able to safely relocate up to 40 lbs.
