The Sales Lead at Heinen's Grocery Store is responsible for leading all aspects of the deli department to deliver exceptional customer service, high-quality products, and strong financial performance. This role oversees daily operations including food preparation, merchandising, inventory management, food safety compliance, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities * Lead, train, and develop Deli Associates to achieve established sales, margin, and customer service objectives. * Implement and uphold departmental best practices, operational procedures, and company standards. * Prioritize, assign, and oversee daily responsibilities to ensure efficient workflow and optimal productivity. * Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, store leadership, and corporate partners. * Support day-to-day department operations, including scanning, inventory control, ordering, stocking, and merchandising. * Develop and manage weekly schedules aligned with labor budgets and business needs. * Contribute to menu planning initiatives and maintain comprehensive product knowledge. * Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and company policies. * Foster a positive, performance-driven team environment through coaching and accountability. * Execute merchandising strategies and monitor performance metrics through departmental scorecards. * Utilize internal communication tools, including department boards and reporting systems, to maintain operational alignment. * Participate in corporate meetings, training sessions, and leadership development programs. * Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall store operations. Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Minimum of one year of deli or food service experience preferred. * One to three years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. * Completion of or participation in a formal leadership development program preferred. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. * Demonstrated decision-making, communication, and organizational skills. * Ability to train, mentor, and provide constructive performance feedback. * Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. * Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. * Ability to work in environments with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.
