Description Summary Mackenthun’s Deli Shift Lead supports the Deli Department Manager in all aspects of department operations and profitability. Understand and actively support Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by greeting each customer with a smile and offering assistance. Hours per week: 35-40 Availability: Evenings l Weekends l Flexible Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist in training, motivating, and leading the Deli team, providing feedback as needed. Maintain effective communication with Deli Manager, monitor employee performance, and assist with annual performance reviews. Responsible for ordering products, managing inventory, merchandising, rotating products, restocking, organizing back stock, communicating with suppliers and vendors and needed. Perform critical Deli functions to include, but not limited to, receive and fill customer orders, prepare deli products, and fill display cases. Maintain freshness and wholesomeness of product. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of department, equipment and fixtures. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide department supervision as needed to ensure excellent customer service and personal and team productivity. Financial Responsibilities Minimize department losses due to improper product handling, storage, damage and spoils. Other Duties Assist in other departments when needed. Other duties as assigned. Experience: two (2) years retail deli experience required. Must be able to clearly speak, read and write the English language. The Deli Evening Lead schedule includes evenings and weekends Be a positive and creative trend-setter with excellent customer service skills, problem solving and decision making skills. Must be skilled in basic math. Windows operating system computer skills, including the use of Google Workspace required. Must be honest and dependable, able to work independently and as a team member. Must have an interest in selling food and a desire to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's has to offer, in particular Mackenthun's Signature items. Physical Demands Constant standing/walking/talking/hearing/seeing for long periods of time. Frequent repetitive motions, bending at the waist, reaching arm's length/above shoulders/below waist, crouching, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs. Frequent lifting 50 lbs. Position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision. Position requires an excellent sense of taste and smell. Training Training provided on Mackenthun's Deli Standards and processes including Deli equipment operation, food safety, personal safety, harassment prevention. Equipment Used Includes but not limited to: Combi Oven, Compactor, Fryer, Fryer Filter, Heavy Lifting, Knives, Ladder, Lift Truck, Ovens, Pallet Jack, Sinks, Slicer, Steam Table, Stove Top, Walk-in Coolers, Walk-in Freezer, Wrapper/Sealer, Dishwasher, computer system and telephone. (Age Restrictions Apply) Work Environment Work performed in a variety of indoor environments including hot, cold and wet, on terrazzo flooring. Associates work as a team and individually in a smoke-free facility with a multifaceted and fast paced environment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
