Freson Bros., an Alberta-owned and operated fresh food retail chain, invites individuals who appreciate the Craft of the Chef to apply for the position of Sous Chef / Deli Supervisor in Stony Plain, Alberta.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a food service environment
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for leading others while providing an exceptional customer experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working during peak food-retail hours (evenings, weekends and holidays)
  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred), Red Seal designation (an asset)
    Most importantly, the willingness and enthusiasm for continuous learning and development.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Kitchen Team in:
  • Preparing and cooking food according to standards and recipe specifications
  • Assist Deli Department Manager in overseeing the department’s growth in sales and profitability
  • Implement departmental programs: ordering, receiving, inventory
  • Training and coaching line cooks to achieve operational excellence and ensure Team Members are in compliance with Health and Safety/Food Safety Policies
  • Maintain excellent food execution and food safety compliance
  • Follow the opening and closing procedures and checklists to keep the kitchen running smoothly
  • Guide Deli Team to ensure work areas are clean and sanitary
  • Resolve customer and Deli department concerns and complaints, and provide a positive customer experience
