Job Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and dedicated Driver for our Toronto-based company. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in our logistics and transportation operations. This position necessitates the ability to handle heavy items exceeding 20 kg, carry out charge and discharge tasks, and be available on call to meet our ever-changing business needs. Additionally, candidates must possess a Full G driver’s license and clean abstract, basic mechanical skills, proficient route-following capabilities, and a strong understanding of the Toronto Area. Furthermore, the candidate should be able to assist with warehouse duties, including preparing packages and offloading materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transportation Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently for the transportation of goods, equipment, and materials as required.
  • Loading and Unloading Safely handle heavy items exceeding 20 kg during loading and unloading processes.
  • Charge and Discharge Manage the charge and discharge procedures for goods and equipment in a well-organized and timely manner.
  • On-Call Availability Be ready to respond to transportation requests on short notice, ensuring that the business’s needs are met.
  • Route Planning Diligently follow route directions, make strategic decisions based on traffic conditions, and utilize a comprehensive knowledge of the GTA.
  • Basic Mechanical Skills Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance tasks to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
  • Safety Compliance Adhere to all safety regulations, including traffic laws and company policies, to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Documentation Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, transported goods, and other pertinent documentation.
  • Customer Service Interact professionally with customers, delivering excellent service while representing the company.
  • Warehouse AssistanceHelp prepare packages and offload material alongside our warehouse manager.
  • Flexibility Assist with any additional tasks as needed to support the smooth operation of the store and warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Full G driver’s license that has more than 3 years of driving history.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle items exceeding 20 kg.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to work on call as required.
  • Basic mechanical skills for routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Proficiency in route navigation and the ability to make strategic route decisions based on traffic conditions in the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all relevant traffic and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good physical stamina and resilience.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require exposure to various weather conditions.
  • The driver may need to work irregular hours and be available on short notice.
  • This role may involve heavy lifting and physical exertion.
