Description Summary: The Delivery Driver plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by providing efficient and safe delivery of our products and services, while representing the company in a professional manner. The Delivery Driver is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with our customers by communicating effectively, ensuring quality and accuracy of our products, answering customer questions and keeping customers informed about our company and our services. This role serves as a key part of our sales process as they seek additional business from current customers and attempt to gain new business by passing leads on to our sales functions and informs the sales groups of customer and competitor intelligence. In addition to the delivery and customer service responsibilities, the Delivery Driver also takes initiative to provide general maintenance and up-keep of their delivery vehicle, performs daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment, and adheres to all DOT compliance requirements to ensure a positive relationship between the DOT and our company. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Deliver products to local customers and obtain proof of delivery Provide excellent customer service Load and unload the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives Maintain a high standard of driving performance Maintain compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements Communicate effectively with department leads and branches on all job related issues Maintain vehicle and shipping and receiving dock cleanliness and order Follow processes and procedures in place for effective job performance Participate in company process improvement initiatives Provide coverage in areas in which staffing is low and work level is high Requirements Critical Success Factors: Ability to learn, grow, and adapt with change Excellent customer service orientation Ability to analyze work load and establish priorities Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback Ability to work well in a team atmosphere Ability to stay on task and work efficiently Strong attention to detail Maintain professional appearance Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal guidance Ability to maintain a positive attitude and solid work ethic Self motivated with strong problem solving ability Drive for continuous improvement Dependable Job Requirements/Specifications: High School Diploma or GED required Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record Ability to meet and maintain qualifications as required by the DOT Class A required Six months previous delivery or courier experience preferred Demonstrated computer skills Ability to lift 100 lbs Knowledge of Eclipse preferred Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus Ability to operate lift truck equipment Ability to work a flexible shift Work Environment & Physical Demands: Consistently lifting, carrying, reaching, working with hands, working with fingers, vision acuity - near, vision acuity - far, depth perception, field of vision, vision adjustment, color vision, driving, work alone, non-standard shift work, extended day Frequently sitting, standing, walking, pushing, bending at the waist, twisting upper body, climbing, balancing, talking, hearing, team lifting, works with others, customer contact, cold, heat, temperature changes, vibration, work indoors, work outdoors Some kneeling, crouching, wet, humid, noise, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation Occasional crawling, confined area, high places The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an incumbent.
