Description Position: Delivery Driver I FLSA status: Non-exempt Location: Deliveries (Dept. 87) Reports to: Delivery Manager Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Furniture Delivery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering furniture items to customers' homes or offices while ensuring they arrive in good condition. This may involve carrying furniture upstairs, through narrow doorways, and into tight spaces. The Furniture Delivery Driver will also provide excellent customer service and ensure the safety and maintenance of the delivery truck. Essential Job Functions: Load and unload furniture items onto and off of the delivery truck, using equipment like dollies and hand trucks. Safely operate the delivery truck, navigating through traffic and following traffic rules and regulations. Communicate with customers to confirm delivery times and locations, handle complaints, and answer questions about the delivery process. Assemble furniture items upon delivery, using tools and following instructions for correct assembly. Maintain safety and maintenance of the delivery truck, perform routine checks, and report issues to the supervisor. Ensure timely delivery of furniture items to customers' homes or offices. Follow company policies and procedures regarding delivery and customer service. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid TX driver's license with a clean driving record. 1-2 years of experience as a delivery driver. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred but not required. Work Environment: Primarily outdoors, delivering furniture to various locations. Frequent entry and exit from delivery vehicle. Exposure to various weather conditions. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy furniture items up to 100 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to load and unload furniture from the truck. Ability to work in challenging weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
