Description

Job Purpose: We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver to join our team in Ontario, Canada. The Driver will be responsible for operating a motor vehicle in compliance with all relevant traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of passengers or cargo. At times of minimal deliveries, the employee will be assisting with duties within the warehouse such as shipping, receiving, assembly and testing.

QUALIFICATION/ SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driver’s License: Possession of a valid and appropriate driver’s license for the vehicle type, such as Class G for personal vehicles or relevant commercial driver’s license (e.g., Class D, F, or A).
  • Clean Driving Record: A clean driving record devoid of major convictions like DUI and excessive traffic violations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Ontario’s traffic laws, regulations, and transportation guidelines pertinent to the specific role.
  • Physical Fitness: Adequate physical fitness to load and unload cargo as needed (up to 100 lbs).
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with passengers or customers.
  • Safety Awareness: A commitment to safety and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Reliability: Consistent and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Geographical Knowledge: Familiarity with local and regional geography to navigate effectively.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English may be necessary for effective communication,
  • Endorsements (if applicable): Additional endorsements on the driver’s license, such as air brake endorsement (Z),

· Route Planning: Efficiently plan and execute driving routes, ensuring on-time deliveries or passenger transport.
· Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine vehicle inspections, maintain fluid levels, and promptly report any vehicle issues to the employer.
· Load and Unload: Safely load and unload cargo or assist passengers while maintaining their comfort and security.
· Customer Service: Interact with customers or passengers in a courteous and professional manner, addressing their needs and concerns as required.
· Documentation: Maintain precise records of driving activities, including logbooks and necessary documentation.
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal transportation regulations, including hours of service, weight restrictions, and vehicle inspections.
· Safety: Adhere to safety practices, including the use of seatbelts, proper handling of hazardous materials (if applicable), and driving safely under diverse weather and road conditions.
· Communication: Establish clear and open communication with dispatchers or supervisors, promptly reporting delays, issues, or incidents.
· Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle emergencies and breakdowns by following established protocols and contacting emergency services when necessary.
