DRIVER/WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE

Active Plumbing Supplies Wellington is situated on the Ryelands Business Park in Wellington, we are a fast past business and we are looking for someone to join our growing team who is keen to learn all aspects of the business, as this is a split role your time will be spent in the delivery vehicle as well as general warehouse duties and supporting on the trade counter. Full training will be provided and career progression is also available.
No 2 days are the same, we deliver locally and far afield within the UK, we have to be flexible for our customers, one day you could be delivering 3-4 drops pre-loaded and on other days you could be doing lots of local deliveries with returns to branch to load each time. Our customers range from remote elderly retail to large construction sites so delivery addresses are not always available, deviating from a sat nav is to be expected!
Candidates would need to consider this role carefully, we are an extremely busy and well-known supplier in the local area and therefore customer service, time keeping and punctuality are key attributes to be a successful candidate. Basic plumbing knowledge is desirable but not essential.
This is a physically demanding job, lots of our products are heavy and bulky and although we have all the correct handling equipment such as ramps and pump trucks etc sometimes this can’t be done and elbow grease is required. All deliveries are kerbside only unless you are confident in offering further assistance.
REQUIREMENTS
· Full UK Driving Licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points
· Previous experience driving large 3.5 Tonne vehicles
· Previous experience with handling equipment such as ratchet straps, pump and sack trucks
· Basic Map skills
· Customer service experience in a retail environment

· Delivering orders to site and residential addresses on a daily basis
· Collecting items to be returned ensuring you have the correct paperwork
· Handling and checking goods on and off the van
· Assist in loading the vans each day for the next day deliveries
· Maintaining high levels of customer service at all times
· Ensuring the vehicles are kept clean inside and tidy inside and out
· Ensuring all general maintenance checks are carried out on a weekly basis
· Oil / water / tyres / screen wash
· Reporting any damages immediately
· Reporting all faults and service intervals as soon as they are indicated
· Supporting the warehouse and trade counter function as and when required
· Serving, quoting, and dealing with customers on a daily basis
· Ensuring telephone calls are answered quickly
· Ordering stock using a ‘Stock Order Report’
· Picking orders accurately
· Checking and putting away incoming stock
· Assisting with loading delivery vans as required
· Maintaining high levels of customer service at all times
· Working as part of a team to build branch sales and profit
· Reporting to Branch Manager
