Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Demand Planner/Buyer/Inventory Control is responsible for creating accurate demand forecasts for the Salt Lake City location; as well as, working directly with Memphis associated Demand Planner/Buyer “by product line” executing purchase orders to maintain optimal inventory levels in our SLC & Memphis, TN locations. This role ensures that customer demand is met while balancing cost efficiency and service levels. The Inventory Control position plays a vital role in maintaining inventory accuracy within a fast-paced distribution environment. This position is responsible for conducting routine cycle counts, investigating variances, and ensuring inventory records align with physical stock. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and thrives in a warehouse setting where precision and efficiency are key. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Develop and maintain product demand forecasts for SLC location using sales data, trends, and business inputs. Manage purchasing activities including creation of SLC Pos (both for direct ship and combination buys); as well as, tracking deliveries to SLC Monitor SLC inventory levels and safety stock to prevent stockouts or overages. Collaborate with Memphis Demand Planners/Buyers, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to align forecasts with business goals. Analyze forecast accuracy and implement improvements to enhance planning processes. Identify supply risks and provide solutions to minimize disruptions. Track supplier performance and escalate issues when necessary. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts across designated warehouse zones. Reconcile inventory discrepancies by reviewing system transactions, inspecting physical stock, and collaborating with receiving, picking, and shipping teams. Document count results and update inventory systems Identify root causes of inventory issues and assist in implementing corrective actions. Ensure proper labeling, bin accuracy, and product placement to support inventory integrity. Support full physical inventory audits and assist with inventory-related projects. Operate RF scanners and handheld devices to track and verify inventory. Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate accurate counts. Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE & OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). 2–5 years of experience in demand planning and procurement. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel skills. Strong communication and analytical abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. Basic math and computer skills (Excel, data entry). Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on feet for extended periods. Preferred Experience with demand planning tools and forecasting software. Excellent communicator and problem solver. Experience in a high-volume distribution environment. Forklift or pallet jack certification (if applicable). Knowledge of lean warehousing or continuous improvement practices.
