Main Purpose of the Role To support the Chief Officer in the delivery and development of dementia services across Sandwich, Deal, and the surrounding areas, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and achievement of service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the dementia services delivered at the Sunflower Centre and affiliated locations.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to Kent County Council (KCC) and via Salesforce under the Dementia and Me contract.
Organise engaging, person-centred activities and wellbeing services (including bathing, hair care, foot care, Memory Cafés, Drop-ins, Roadshows, and Memory Walks).
Produce, analyse, and submit KPI data to senior management and commissioners, ensuring contractual compliance.
Design and deliver engaging activities tailored to the needs of service users. Promote and upsell additional services offered by the organisation.
Promote and represent dementia services in Sandwich and surrounding areas through attendance at meetings, partnership forums, and events.
Maintain strong knowledge of other dementia services in the locality to facilitate collaboration and referrals.
Provide accurate information and signposting to relevant support services.
Liaise with local health alliances and external partners to ensure integrated service delivery.
Offer managerial support and clinical supervision to Dementia Support Workers in conjunction with partner organisations.
Lead the recruitment, induction, and coordination of volunteers.
Support students while on placement to enhance their learning experience.
Plan and deliver training and development opportunities, ensuring staff and volunteers maintain appropriate skills and knowledge.
Build and maintain respectful and compassionate relationships with clients and their families, providing sensitive support and managing conflict appropriately.
Serve as the designated safeguarding lead, ensuring adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures and taking proactive measures to protect vulnerable individuals.
Lead community outreach and awareness-raising initiatives related to dementia, including engagement with schools, organisations, and the wider public.
Support individuals with dementia of all ages.
Ensure care plans reflect individual needs and preferences, promoting a person-centred approach.
Encourage a culture of independence and dignity, enabling clients and family members to maximise their abilities and quality of life.
Adopt effective communication and collaboration with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Manage monthly invoices, check payments, prepare transfer sheets, and reimburse the main centre for costs (e.g., bathing/hair care).
Manage petty cash responsibly and in line with policy. Purchase and manage resources to support service delivery.
Person Specification Essential:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar managerial role within a fast-paced environment.
Proficient IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and proactively, with strong organisational and time management skills.
Sound understanding of the Dementia Services frameworks, standards and requirements
Desirable:
Experience of working with individuals living with dementia or personal experience in this area.
Industry-relevant qualifications.
Knowledge of care services and the UK health and social care landscape. Experience managing health and social care contracts, with an understanding of relevant funding mechanisms.
Previous involvement in supporting family carers.
