Job Description As our Demi Chef with the Breakfast Team, you will play an essential role in ensuring a section of the kitchen is organised and operates efficiently and productively, as well as ensuring that all service and brand standards are met. Other duties include, but not limited to: Bring the “Passion for Excellence” to every service, delivering dishes with flair, precision, and true Sofitel elegance. Deliver warm, personalised service through food, ensuring every guest experiences the “Essence of Pleasure.” Embody the spirit of French hospitality with a confident, proactive “can-do” attitude in every task. Execute all duties efficiently and on time, supporting seamless banquet operations. Maintain immaculate workstations, upholding the highest hygiene standards and ensuring zero cross-contamination. Collaborate effortlessly with all departments, building strong, positive working relationships. Support the Chef de Partie and senior chefs across all banquet operations while developing your culinary skills. Operate your allocated section with pride, ensuring smooth, productive service for large-scale events. Demonstrate solid knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques across meats, seafood, vegetables, starches, and desserts. Prepare, cook, and plate banquet menu items to perfection, following recipe cards and Sofitel brand standards every time. Report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety concerns promptly. Stay aware of departmental goals and contribute actively to team success. Assist senior chefs with banquet menu prep and ensure mise en place levels are always ready for service. Uphold all brand, service, and food presentation standards throughout every shift. Qualifications Certificate in Commercial Cookery. Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar kitchen role (banquets experience highly regarded). Strong communication skills and a polished, professional presentation aligned with the Sofitel brand. Availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays. Genuine passion for gastronomy and crafting memorable culinary moments for large-scale events. Sound understanding of food safety standards and HACCP practices. Experience in high-volume kitchen environments. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with grace and composure.
