What to expect:  

The Main Kitchen is responsible for the preparation of dishes and products for various departments, including Le Camelia, Room Service, the Lobby Bar, and Banquet Operations. The Banquet Operations department is the largest among all five-star hotels in the Netherlands and is the market leader in terms of revenue and quality. Therefore, taking care of the dishes within the Main Kitchen means working at a very high level.

As a Demi Chef de Partie, you are responsible for preparing a variety of dishes, performing mise en place activities, keeping the kitchen clean, ensuring the optimal functioning of the assigned section, and developing new items for the menu. The Main Kitchen is responsible for breakfast, room service, the banqueting department, and the staff restaurant. This position therefore offers a great deal of diversity in dishes, but also in working hours! 

Your main tasks will be:

  • Preparing dishes in accordance with established standards, recipes, and schedules;
  • Ensuring a high-quality end product;
  • Making suggestions to the Chef;
  • Contribute to the development of products for the menu;
  • Making preparations regarding dishes;
  • Ensuring the quality, taste, texture, and color of dishes and adjusting them when necessary;
  • Guiding and advising colleagues and students and providing instructions;
  • Ensuring a high-quality end product;

Rest assured, you won't be working alone! In addition to working within your own team, you will also collaborate closely with other teams within the hotel. After all, only by working together do we achieve the best results. Work is performed in rotating shifts 7 days a week. You work 5 days a week, 7.6 hours a day. The shifts depend on the department you are assigned to and the events taking place at the hotel. One week you work early shifts, and the next week you work evening shifts. You must also be available to work on public holidays.

  • Bonus: 1 week's salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Result) and you achieve a minimum total score of successful in your annual evaluation;
