The Edmonton EXPO Centre is seeking a dedicated Demi Chef to join our culinary team! Under the direction of the Sous Chef, the Demi Chef prepares food and observes methods of preparation while ensuring high-quality standards are achieved.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, seasoning, and cooking foods such as soups, vegetables, and meats for safe consumption, following EXPO specifications.
  • Feeling, tasting, and examining the appearance of food prepared and cooked by kitchen staff.
  • Ensuring the correct and timely distribution of food and products to the required locations.
  • Communicate with the Sous Chef regarding production schedules.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation in all areas of the kitchen and minimize waste.
  • Manage food quality and productivity by keeping detailed records.
  • Assist other employees when required with culinary production and banquet setup, as well as assisting on action stations.
  • Ensure the mise en place is ready for the next day according to expectations and demands.
  • Maintain a clean workstation in adherence with AHS standards

The successful candidate will have:

  • Post-secondary education, with a degree in culinary or hospitality management, preferred.
  • Food Safety Certification & Red seal required.
  • 5-7 years of high-volume kitchen or banquet operational experience is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to assess operations, prioritize and multitask.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 24KG
  • Availability to work shifts, daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
