Our final core value is making every minute count, driving performance and efficiency. Mission of Dental Assistant The Dental Assistant reports to the Practice administrator. The mission of the Dental Assistant is to help facilitate patient understanding of the treatment needed as well assisting the doctor with chair side dental procedures. The Dental Assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production. The Dental Assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and be able to work with the doctor in a wider variety of dental procedures. Key Performance Indicators Doctor production/Hygiene Production Same day procedures Key Responsibilities Seating patients and ensuring their comfort throughout their visit Updating medical histories and recording vital signs Preparing thoroughly for procedures before the dentist enters the treatment room Providing chairside assistance to the dentist during a wide range of procedures Taking dental X-rays Taking and pouring impressions, as well as completing laboratory work Performing select independent tasks within the assistant’s scope of practice (e.g., seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride, etc.) Ordering, organizing, and stocking supplies and treatment rooms Educating patients about procedures and oral care Cleaning and preparing treatment rooms Sterilizing instruments in accordance with safety protocols Performing additional duties as assigned Key Competencies Customer-focused mindset Strong communication skills Collaborative team player Effective organization and planning abilities Resourceful with a proactive approach Adaptable and flexible in dynamic environments Approachable and personable demeanor Strong stress management and resilience Active listening skills High level of integrity and ethics Intellectual curiosity and sound judgment Confident and assertive when needed Enthusiastic and passionate about work
