Mission of the Dental Assistant The Dental Assistant reports to the Practice Administrator and plays a vital role in delivering outstanding patient care. The mission of the Dental Assistant is to support both the patient and the doctor by facilitating patient understanding of treatment plans and providing high-quality chairside assistance during dental procedures. Dental Assistants are responsible for building strong, trusting relationships with patients, supporting increased doctor production, and contributing to a smooth, efficient clinical workflow. This role requires a solid understanding of dentistry, adaptability, and the ability to assist in a wide range of dental procedures. Key Responsibilities Seat patients and ensure their comfort throughout the visit Update health histories and obtain vital signs Prepare treatment rooms and materials prior to the dentist’s arrival Assist the dentist chairside with a wide variety of procedures Take dental X-rays Take impressions, pour models, and complete lab work Perform approved independent duties within scope of practice (e.g., seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride, etc.) Order, organize, and stock supplies and treatment rooms Educate patients on procedures and post-treatment care Clean and reset treatment rooms Sterilize instruments according to protocols Perform equipment maintenance and upkeep Complete additional duties as assigned to support practice operations Key Competencies Customer Focus Strong Oral Communication Team Collaboration Organization & Planning Resourcefulness & Initiative Commitment to Excellence Adaptability Professional Likability Stress Management Active Listening Integrity Intelligence Assertiveness Enthusiasm & Passion
