ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares rooms for treatment and sanitizes after treatment according to established protocol. Performs all sterilization functions such as, routine equipment maintenance including but not limited to changing traps and cleaning suction lines. Performs suction during procedures, assists dental provider during treatment using four handed dentistry approach. Takes and develops radiographs and takes, pours and trims impressions. Tracks and prepares dental lab cases for transport. Reviewing medical history and obtains vitals and consent forms when applicable, informs dental provider of information given by the patient or questions asked by the patient. Maintains charts, performs charting during exams. Provides post-operative instructions to patients as directed by the dental provider as required. Escorts patient from waiting room to dental chair. Performs all other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program, current participation in an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience/training. Current PA State x-ray certification or ability to obtain a PA State x-ray certification within a designated period of time Current CPR and Narcan Certification Customer service oriented – ability to focus on patient care and outcomes Proficient keyboarding skills Ability to critically think which means the ability to think clearly and rationally about what to do or what to believe; understand logical connections between ideas; and identify, construct, and evaluate arguments Ability to set positive examples for team members through exceptional work performance including adherence to company policies and processes. Ability to work in and respond to a demanding environment Ability to communicate well and in a caring and supportive manner with individuals of all backgrounds. Ability to work efficiently and accurately with strong attention to detail Ability to be organized, proactive in follow-up and follow-through, and to juggle multiple competing tasks Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to articulate and advocate Family First Health’s mission and values Ability to maintain required clearances and licensure PHYSICAL DEMANDS Mental/Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Dental Assistant position such as: Prolonged periods of standing/walking Finger dexterity-ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hand to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects Frequent flexing or rotating wrists Constant exposure to disease, infection, blood, bodily fluids, and close contact with others. Constant varying and unpredictable situations. Must wear common PPE/Safety Equipment (appropriate shoes, glasses, gloves, gowns, etc.) Frequent lifting of supplies and equipment Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range Possible travel between work sites and Outreach events with exposure to weather conditions Occasional sedentary work. Qualifications
