JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dental team. We are a small private practice, owned by husband and wife dentists who provide commitment to exceptional patient care and transparency in dentistry. We are looking for someone who is reliable and knowledgeable yet teachable. The ideal candidate possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with experience in various specialties such as general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and clear aligners. This role requires proficiency in chairside assisting and familiarity with dental terminology, as well as a commitment to providing exceptional patient care while adhering to infection control protocols.

EXPERIENCE

Bilingual (Spanish) is a must. Candidate should know how to work in a fast-paced setting. Candidates should have prior experience, demonstrating familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices. Experience with EMR systems is highly desirable, particularly with Dentrix. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry is a plus for those working with younger patients. A background in chairside assisting, medical records management, and understanding of medical terminology will enhance your application. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging and safety protocols.
  • Manage patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including medical documentation and coding.
  • Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix for efficient patient management.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and gathering medical histories from patients.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow effectively.
  • Operate dental equipment including intraoral scanners for imaging purposes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with clinic policies.
