Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Dental Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to dental providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality dental services and oral health education. This role supports chair-side clinical procedures, diagnostic imaging, patient education, and the preparation and maintenance of dental operations. The Dental Assistant is responsible for accurate documentation, record-keeping, and data entry within the electronic health record (EHR), supporting compliance, data integrity, and continuous quality improvement. The position also assists with outreach activities, reporting, and coordination with internal and external service providers to promote integrated patient care POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Dental Assistant will provide support to the dental provider in the full range of dental services and oral health education for clients. Dental assisting includes maintenance and organization of dental materials and instruments, patient and laboratory record keeping, and performance and support of clinical procedures. is responsible for maintaining accurate, timely, and organized documentation of services, demonstrating strong accountability in data entry and reporting. This position plays a critical role in ensuring data integrity and compliance through accurate documentation of the electronic health record (EHR). Essential Job Functions The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job: · Provide an accurate initial review of all client assessment forms for completeness · Ability to take and process diagnostic radio-graphs and mount them · Provide chair-side information on dental education. · Ensure complete procedure set-up and breakdown of dental operators · Provide chair-side support for clinical providers (four-handed dentistry) · Ability to take accurate impressions with various materials · Maintain daily operations record-keeping · Conduct Outreach Maintain · Participation in and compliance with all CQI activities and professional boundaries of the dental program · Maintain positive and professional working relationships with clients, staff, and community partners · Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Dental Other Responsibilities The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job: · Promoting linkages with other service providers within and outside the agency · Assistance in maintaining active and archived case records · Assistance in the preparation of data for reports · Administrative assistance as needed Professional Representation and Development · Maintain a positive image of VIP Community Services in the community and within partner organizations · Attend all mandatory in-service trainings annually · Attend seminars and trainings to support ongoing professional development · Participate in team meetings and comply with all Dental Health Services policies and procedure Requirements Minimum Requirements: · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Ability to speak, read, and write English required · Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred · Strong attention to detail and ability to manage both client-facing and administrative tasks · Assistance in maintaining active and archived case records · A Dental Assistant certificate plus one year of qualifying experience is accepted. Additional certificates or training are a plus. · Assistance in the preparation of data for reports · Promoting linkages with other service providers within and outside of the agency · Basic Computer Skills with the ability to learn a dental software system
