General Responsibilities: * Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and periodontal probing as needed for patients. * Provide thorough oral hygiene instruction and preventative care techniques to patients. * Apply topical anesthesia, as recommended or required, to prepare patients for dental procedures. * Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and procedures. * Expose radiographs and assess dental health at appropriate intervals. * Order, organize, and stock dental supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the practice. * Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of dental health education or preventative programs for patients. * Participate in research projects and conduct needs assessment surveys to improve patient care and community oral health. * Other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the practice. * Administer local anesthesia, if certified. * Screen for signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer, and report findings to the dentist. Education/Experience: * Current state licensure as a Dental Hygienist. * Proficient in dental hygiene techniques, including scaling, root planing, and periodontal probing. * Knowledge of dental radiography, sterilization protocols, and infection control practices. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and motivate patients in oral health practices. * Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate flexibility. * Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
