Overview The Dental Hygienist supports the mission of People’s Community Clinic by assuring that dental services are delivered in a manner consistent with PCC’s strong commitment to high-quality care and strong patient satisfaction. This position works as a member of a care team to coordinate patient care and support patients and families in self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change. Care team members are expected to assess and manage the health needs of the patient population and to communicate effectively with all patients, particularly those from vulnerable populations. Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $86,000 - $96,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Dental Services Director or attending dentist, this individual’s primary responsibilities include: Verify patient health history, record blood pressure, complete periodontal charting, and document appropriately in the patient’s chart, abiding by state and federal laws. Perform dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, gross debridement, SCRP, sealants, and administering local anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide under supervision. Treat patients of all ages and varying medical conditions with care, educating them on oral hygiene, procedures, and continued care. Present primary complaint to the doctor(s) and partner with them to co-assess the treatment the patient needs. Prepare, clean, and sterilize equipment and operatories according to organizational guidelines. Maintain a respectful, compassionate, and positive environment for patients and staff. Identify and implement improvements to workflow, processes, and patient care. Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control guidelines, following universal precautions. Sharpen instruments as needed and assist the dentist during patient schedule overloads. Take appropriate X-rays as necessary. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a dental hygienist (recent graduates considered with relevant qualifications) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Strong customer service and communication skills, able to interact with diverse populations Self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experienced with confidential information handling Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Certificate/License: Registered with the Texas Board of Dental Examiners Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide licenses, or willingness to obtain CPR and X-ray certification Our Benefits Include: 18 PTO days per year & 11 paid holidays Major Medical Health Insurance Coverage.
