Job Description Naval Medical Center San Diego – San Diego, CA Compass Government Solutions is currently recruiting qualified Dental Laboratory Technicians (Anaplastologist) to provide dental laboratory support services at Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, California. This position supports Hospital Dentistry and maxillofacial prosthetic services in a military medical center environment. Work Schedule Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700–1500. Shifts will be scheduled for 8-hour periods, not including an uncompensated 30-minute lunch break. Duty Hours: None On-Call Hours: None Call-Back Hours: None Overage Hours: None Job Duties: Work closely with professional staff in the fabrication and fitting of ocular restorations, facial prostheses, crowns, and fixed partial dentures Independently design, construct, and resolve complex dental laboratory design and fabrication issues Fabricate maxillofacial prosthetics including surgical, interim, and definitive obturators, palatal lift prostheses, radiation stents, extraoral prosthetics, magnet implant systems, ocular prostheses, and silicone prostheses Read, interpret, and apply requirements prescribed in dental prosthetic prescriptions (DD Form 2322) Fabricate dental laboratory work to quality standards evaluated under microscopic magnification Maintain laboratory work areas and equipment Maintain correction rates within required quality thresholds Perform laboratory functions including pouring impressions, trimming and articulating casts, duplicating casts, fabricating trays, orthodontic retainers, mouth guards, surgical guides, and prosthodontic templates Fabricate removable prosthodontic appliances including custom trays, occlusion rims, dentures, relines, repairs, orthodontic retainers, TAP appliances, occlusal guards, and implant-supported restorations Apply porcelain and colorants to fabricate crowns, fixed partial dentures, implant restorations, and ceramic prostheses Modify metal and ceramic frameworks to optimize prosthetic fit, function, and esthetics Perform prosthesis finishing procedures including waxing, investing, casting, soldering, contouring, and polishing frameworks Utilize CAD/CAM software and hardware to upload digital impressions, scan casts, design restorations, and mill ceramic restorations Qualifications Degree/Training Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways: Associate Degree or Certificate from a dental laboratory technology program, or Certificate from Army, Air Force, or Navy Dental Laboratory Training (METC), or Evidence of two or more years as a laboratory technician accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a licensed dentist or previous dental laboratory employer Education Successful completion of a two-year program of study and training in dental laboratory techniques approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA), or High School diploma if certified through an Army, Air Force, or Navy Dental Laboratory Training (METC) program Experience Minimum of two (2) years within the last three (3) years of dental laboratory experience in one or more of the following areas: General Laboratory Removable Prosthodontics Porcelain Application (Ceramist) Prosthesis Finishing (Metal and Ceramic) CAD/CAM Design and Milling Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an anaplastologist Proficiency with CAD/CAM design, workflows, and manufacturing required Citizenship/Security: U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to access requirements for U.S. Government computer systems and networks.
