Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a friendly dental team as a Dental Nurse Apprentice. This is a paid employment opportunity, not a placement, offering a secure position for the right candidate.
You will work closely with a professional dental team while studying towards a nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, delivered in the workplace. In-house training, online learning and ongoing support will be provided by experienced dental professionals, ensuring you develop both your practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS ACHIEVED UPON COMPLETION

  • Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths – Level 2 (if required)
  • Health & Safety Certification
  • First Aid at Work
  • Equality and Diversity Training

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS (EFFECTIVE FOR NEW STARTS FROM 11 FEBRUARY 2025)

  • Aged 16–18: English and Maths Level 2 remain mandatory
  • Aged 19+ : -Not mandatory but as part of the initial assessment, the training provider must discuss with the apprentice and employer whether English and/or Maths will be included in the apprenticeship. This decision must be formally documented in the training plan.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or above (desirable)
  • Initial assessment in English and Maths may be required
  • Proof of qualifications will be checked before your application is submitted
Responsibilities
  • Chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures
  • Ensuring patient care and comfort at all times
  • Preparing and maintaining a clean, sterile clinical environment
  • Sterilising and decontaminating instruments and equipment
  • Mixing dental materials and assisting with charting
  • Developing dental x-rays
  • Managing stock and supplies within the surgery
  • Performing reception and basic administrative tasks
  • Strictly following cross-infection control and health and safety procedures
