Description

Community & Special Care Dentistry are looking to recruit qualified dental nurses to work across sites at both Wheata Dental Clinic within the specialist dental teams and Firth Park Dental Clinic with the undergraduate teaching team. The consultant led multi-disciplinary teams are committed to the provision of dental care to vulnerable client groups.
Wheata, a newly refurbished site, offers an enhanced patient experience with its state of the art equipment and facilities for patients with additional needs.
Candidates will need to be qualified to NVQ level 3 in Oral Health or equivalent and ideally possess a post basic qualification although this is not essential; they will also require current registration with the GDC.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive dental nurse support in the form of clinical and associated clerical duties to the dental team within the remit of the Community & Special Care Service. Assist in the provision of oral health care including the prevention and health education to individual clients who may have learning or physical difficulties, mental health illness, be medically compromised, dependent elderly or have a dental phobia.
You will act as a link person for the service and clinical staff providing oral care for clients who are unable to accept routine treatment and who require special care dentistry.
Provide inclusive care in community clinics and also on a domiciliary basis in care homes, patients own homes and secure units; you will also be required to work at other community dental sites to cover annual leave and absence.
You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes a firm commitment to professional development of its staff together with the provision of an excellent health and well-being support service.
The Community & Special Care Dental Service is the main provider of special care dentistry in Sheffield. The service provides dental care in community settings for children and adults who have difficulty accessing dental treatment in general dental practice or who require special care dentistry on a referral basis.
The department work closely with the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital across the primary-secondary interface in the provision of consultant led services on referral, including in-reach specialist care within the hospital. We also support undergraduate dental students, clinicians, senior clinicians and specialists in the delivery of dental care and therefore you must have experience and knowledge of the clinical working environment and current practices/challenges in order to maintain and utilise an appropriately skilled team of dental care professionals to support service delivery.
