Job Title: Dental Nurse/Trainee Dental Nurse
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, friendly and patient-focused dental nurse or trainee dental nurse to join our team at our private dental practice in Petts Wood, Orpington. We are looking for a candidate who has a professional chair side manner, who can help to calm anxious patients and who embraces the practice’s ethos and goals, we are also looking for a candidate who can handle the reception desk.
As a vital member of our team, the dental nurse will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality patient care and maintaining a positive clinic environment. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, a strong focus on patient care, organisational abilities, and proficiency in IT.
We are a small start-up practice and it is imperative that you are hard working, work well in a team and enjoy your work to create a positive and harmonious working environment.
This position is for 1 day per week working with our hygienist on a permanent basis.
Wednesdays 09.45 - 19.15

Responsibilities:

  • Provide chairside assistance to dentist and hygienist, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and treatments
  • Sterilise and maintain dental instruments and equipment
  • Excellent chair side and phone manner and ability to build rapport with patients
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices
  • Manage patient records and ensure accuracy
  • Handle administrative tasks as needed
  • Good IT skills including managing and booking appointments
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment
  • Ability to handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
  • Comply with health and safety rules, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal, sharps handling etc.
  • Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
  • Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated on the latest dental procedures and techniques
  • Ability to work effectively with dentists and hygienists
  • Ability to be a part of dynamic, patient-focused team
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Be able to think outside the box and adapt to various situations

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues
  • Strong nursing abilities with a focus on patient care
  • Proficiency in English language for clear communication
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • IT proficiency to handle digital records and software systems
  • Experience with CQC management and policy handling (desirable)
  • Experience in working with patients in a private dental practice setting (desirable)
  • Knowledge of and experience in handling new enquiries relating to Invisalign in particular (desirable)
  • Have a valid GDC registration (Qualified Dental Nurses)
  • Be up to date with CPD
  • Have a minimum of 12 months of dental nursing experience (desirable)
