ABOUT US
The UCL Eastman Dental Institute (EDI), located in London, UK, is a globally recognised academic centre specialising in dentistry and translational research. Within the Institute, the Department of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provides a comprehensive and structured portfolio of programmes designed to support the ongoing professional development of general dental practitioners, consultants, specialists, and other members of the dental team. A diverse range of educational opportunities is available, including short courses, as well as extensive full-time and part-time programmes, revision courses, and distance learning options. This educational provision is underpinned by a strong emphasis on evidence-based, small-group teaching. Programmes are delivered by experienced postgraduate educators who bring a high level of clinical expertise to their teaching practice.
The Dental Nurse will play an integral role in the coordination, preparation, and maintenance of clinical skills and associated facilities for a broad spectrum of scheduled postgraduate teaching activities and courses within the unit. Working in close collaboration with the Eastman Clinical Investigation Skills Manager and the Senior Dental Nurse, the postholder will contribute to the effective oversight of day-to-day operations across all clinical teaching spaces. Key responsibilities will include ensuring that the Clinical Skills Rooms and the Clinical Suite are consistently prepared, well-maintained, and fully equipped to support the delivery of high-quality educational programmes. The Dental Nurse will be expected to uphold rigorous standards of clinical readiness, infection control, and equipment management, thereby facilitating a safe, professional, and supportive learning environment for all participants. This role is essential to the smooth running of postgraduate training and contributes directly to the overall educational excellence of the Institute. It is important to note that this role is based within a higher education institution and is not part of the National Health Service (NHS). The clinical environment operates within an academic context, supporting university-led teaching. This appointment is subject to: • Full registration with the General Dental Council as a Dental Nurse. • Pre-employment health screening assessment • Disclosure and Barring Service assessment • Eligible for Honorary Appointment with NHS (usually UCLH NHS Trust) Interviews are scheduled for week commencing 15th September 2025.
