OVERVIEW

The Sterilization Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and cleanliness of dental instruments and equipment within the clinic. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining high standards of sterilization and infection control practices, thereby supporting the overall health and safety of both patients and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental terminology, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma equivalent (GED) required
• Experience in a dental office preferred
• Bilingual preferred
• CPR and First-Aid certification preferred
• Means to travel from one office to another preferred

• Communicating well with coworkers, Doctor’s, and management
• Maintaining equipment and inventory
• Tracking tools and equipment signed out at the beginning and end of the shift to assure all items are returned
• Cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging instruments
• Following universal precautions, OSHA requirements and any other state or nationwide regulations
• Utilizing Universal precautions.
• Cleaning and processing all dental instruments for doctors and hygienists
• Monitoring sterilizers and keeping accurate records
• Transferring to assistant the clean items that they require
• Ensuring that treatment rooms are clean and prepared for the next patient to help the Doctors, Hygienists and Dental Assistants on a regular basis
• Preparing patient’s prosthetics for cleaning as per hygienist’s instructions
• Maintaining a count, lubricate, package, and label handpieces
• Stocking, restocking, and manipulating supplies as needed
• Assisting with wheelchair aid for patients Reading and following all procedural manuals and manufacturer instructions
