The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region. The Oral Health service Teams works to improve access to dental care for IUIH and Member Services with a particular focus on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. The service aims to promote oral health, supporting family well-being, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate Oral health services for all clients through integrated holistic care. About the Role? Your role as a dental technician will include a variety of duties around the fabrication of fixed and removable dental appliances. You will work closely with our dental practitioners and have contact with our clients for the purpose of assessing them for accurate colour shades for aesthetics. Your day-to-day Duties will Include: Receive and interpret written instructions from a dental prosthetist or dentist Design and construct fixed and removable acrylic and metal orthodontic appliances. Form, cut or mould plastic, metal or ceramic materials to make appliances using casting, CAD/CAM and thermoforming equipment. Make plaster and stone models of the mouth and teeth from impressions that have been taken by a dental prosthetist or dentist. Construct custom impression trays for the dental prosthetist or dentist to use. Build up wax replicas of part or all the mouth and/or teeth on model. Polish and finish all work prior to being placed in the patient's mouth Reline, repair or modify full or partial dentures. About You? Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of tooth and mouth anatomy Demonstrated ability for construction of mouth guards and occlusal splints Current C Class Driver’s License (QLD) Current Criminal History Check Minimum Diploma of Dental Technology or equivalent At least 1 year experience as a Dental Technician Valid QLD Blue Card Current First Aid and CPR Certificates Desirable, but not mandatory: Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities What Can we Offer?
