JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Dentist to join our dental practice in a very unique environment. The Dentist will be responsible for providing and coordinating essential dental services to inmates in a correctional setting. The role involves delivering primary dental care, including x-rays and health promotion, in compliance with federal legislation, provincial standards and policies. The Dentist must collaborate with the institution’s multi-disciplinary health services team and ensure continuity and integration of care, including coordination with external dental specialists. The ideal candidate will have a background in general dentistry and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensed to practice dentistry in Ontario.
  • Minimum 6 months of recent experience as a practicing dentist.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary dental care and health promotion.
  • Prepare clinic lists and triage appointment schedules.
  • Manage all aspects of dental care services.
  • Approve recommendations from external dental providers.
  • Document assessments, treatments, and consultations.
  • Consult with Medical Team on equipment and supplies.
  • Supervise Dental Assistant
  • Participate in grievance/investigation processes as needed.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work with DA to ensure compliance with sterilization standards and documentation protocols.
