TITLE: DENTIST   Job Class Specification/Job Description   Grade:  TBD   FLSA:  Exempt   Financial Disclosure: Required to file   Designation as Essential Personnel: Yes   Job Summary Reporting to the Dental Director and/or their designee, the Dentists are responsible for providing safe dental care to all patients. Contacts and interactions vary and may involve multiple constituencies such as direct interaction with THC’s executive management, community organizers, the general public, THC’s patients, physicians, colleagues, assigned staff, vendors, contractors and consultants for the purpose of providing and exchanging information. Example of Essential Job Functions   * Assume quality care of all THC dental patients.  * Administer anesthesia and perform scheduled procedures.  * Adhere to the highest standards of dental practices, ethics and professionalism at all times.  * Proper documentation of procedure performed on patients.  * Formulate treatment plan for all patients and list it on treatment plan form.  * Chart all existing dental work (e.g., missing teeth, decay, pocket depths and soft tissue changes).  * Read radiographs and document all observations.  * Treatment plan should always be explained orally to patients before giving them a written plan.  * Ensure that patient’s chief complaints are addressed when possible.  * Other tasks as detailed by Dental Director. * Refer when necessary. * Do some hygiene procedures.  * Proficiently in simples and surgical extractions, crown & bridge, prosthodontics, and basic restoration.  * Able to commute between two of our sites.  Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required * Graduation from an accredited dental school * Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred * Minimum of five years clinical experience preferred * Ability to be clinically fluent in Spanish preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities   Knowledge of FQHC operations, operating principles, guidelines and bylaws. Excellent leadership, customer service, organizational and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate THC’s vision, and motivate others to achieve it organizationally, departmentally, and personally/professionally. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing). Ability to plan and organize work initiatives to successfully accomplish center/organizational goals and objectives. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate as appropriate. Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify, develop and implement short/long-term strategic goals and objectives. Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships; influence, build credibility and trust. Ability to think critically as well as apply critical thinking skills. Ability to: ensure and advocate for quality healthcare and services; and lead and manage a diverse staff.   Licenses and Certifications * Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Maryland (not applicable to commissioned NHSC/PHS officers) * Current CPR (BLS) certifications. ACLS preferred * Current Maryland CDS and DEA registrations * Current Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers (or eliJob Summary)
