Description The Pharmacy Cashier/Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations by assisting with cashier duties and providing basic pharmacy technician support under direct supervision. Duties and Responsibilities: The authority and duties of the shall include but not be limited to: Cashier Duties: Greet customers and provide excellent customer service. Operate the cash register to process purchases accurately. Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds according to policy. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area. Answer general questions and refer pharmacy-related inquiries to licensed staff. Pharmacy Technician Duties (Under Direct Supervision): Assist in receiving and storing medication and inventory. Help prepare prescriptions by counting, labeling, and packaging medications. Communicate with patients for pick-up and prescription questions. Maintain proper documentation and follow HIPAA/confidentiality guidelines. Support the pharmacy team with administrative tasks (filing, data entry, inventory). Performs other duties as assigned. Evaluation: The evaluation of work performance, including specific duties, responsibilities, demeanor, and work ethics, will be ongoing and implemented by the Pharmacist in Charge per center policies. Requirements Must be at least 17 years old. Enrolled or interested in a pharmacy, healthcare, or science-related field is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Basic math and computer proficiency. Ability to read, comprehend and transmit detailed instructions, in order to perform job duties. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details; also, ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently. High degree of integrity to keep confidential all information related to patient health care. Physical ability to work and stand frequently for extended periods. Preferred Certifications: Registered or eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician. Basic life support (BLS) certification. Status: FLSA nonexempt position; OSHA risk high-risk position; ADA negotiable position. Compliance: Adhere to company policies and procedures and all Federal, State and Local medical service requirements. To include HIPAA Privacy & Security. Reaching, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Working in a retail or healthcare environment with moderate noise levels. Environmental Working Conditions: Exposure to typical retail and pharmacy environments, including customer interaction and occasional crowded or high-traffic conditions. May be exposed to medication dust or residue in the pharmacy area. Possible exposure to illness and infectious diseases; personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Bright lighting and temperature-controlled indoor setting. Frequent use of computers, barcode scanners, and phone systems.
