CHAIR OF DENTISTRY, DANBURY, CT

Danbury Hospital, Affiliated with Nuvance Health is seeking a Chair of Dentistry for an Outpatient Teaching Opportunity at the Adult Community Health Center in Danbury, CT (60 miles from NYC). The ideal candidate would have a love of teaching and dedication to provide excellent patient care in a Federally Qualified Health Center. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in teaching to work with bright, enthusiastic and engaged Residents in a clinic dedicated to the care of underserved patients. We are seeking a candidate who can start immediately.
Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area resident’s convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Our employed Medical Practices includes 1000+ physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout western Connecticut and eastern New York.
Danbury, Connecticut, located on the border of New York State, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of four-season recreational activities. The area has highly rated public and private schools. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible via train or car.

JOB SUMMARY:

The clinical directorship and general dental residency directorship exist within the organization to direct activities and administer dental patient care for members of the community.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required: Each of the three major categories within the directorship require advance knowledge of principle and practice and working knowledge respective in their individual job requirements.
Minimum Experience: five years
Desired: Hospital board experience. Private practice experience.

Salary range: $195,000 - $216,500 annually commensurate or relative to experienc

Responsibilities
  1. Administers the ADA standards for hospital-based residency program. As Clinical Director, administers the dental program & directs activities in accordance with accepted standards & administrative policies.
  2. Writes policies, develops & implements curriculum plans for residents. Coordinates program content, faculty teaching & resident performance.
  3. Evaluates resident training & supervision. Establishes & maintains liaison with cooperating affiliated educational departments & institutions.
  4. Writes policies for the practice of dentistry in a hospital setting.
  5. Monitors and maintains records required by regulatory agencies, ADA, Joint Commission.
  6. Monitors the residency program to achieve cost containment and financial viability of the program. Develops & monitors budgets for clinical practice. Reviews financial performance of service.
  7. Arranges residency rotation, schedules, lectures and clinic hours.
  8. Assigns & supervises activities of clinical departmental staff. Assigns & supervises, Institutes & reviews performance appraisals of departmental staff. Supervises general dental residents, hygienists & assistants.
  9. Serves as Chairman of Performance Review Committee.
  10. Investigates and studies research & developments in dental practice & recommends techniques for implementation in department. Resolves problems requiring professional knowledge & outlines policies, procedures & methods for resolving problems.
  11. Instructs students and residents in the theory & practice of dentistry.
  12. Maintains 36-40 hours in the practice of clinical dentistry.
  13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
