QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK SKILL REQUIREMENTS - DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

  • Retail Management Certficates or retail experience
  • Exposure to retail grocery department
  • Some knowledge of purchasing, ranging, and merchandising of Dept to drive sales.
  • Some Knowledge in the management of wages, gross profit and waste control
  • Demonstrated high level in written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated willingness to lead, manage and coach team members
  • Demonstrate ability to organise & execute given routines/ task list, standards & processes
  • Intermediate computer skills

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE….

A Department Champion is responsible for the day to day functions of their given dept and assists giving direction to their other team members within that department. They report directly to the ASM (Assistant Store manager). A key aspect of this role is ensuring the daily department task list/routines are carried out and mentoring and coaching their team to achieve these goals. Communication, organisational & merchandising skills will be important characteristics of this individual

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • High standards in visual presentation and store standards to maximise sales
  • Ensure the execution of promotions & marketing plans
  • Inventory management including stocktaking & ordering
  • Outstanding customer service standards
  • Quality and safety duties including receiving, inspecting and storing of product, whilst also maintaining date and rotation of products
  • Assisting ASM with Profit and loss management, including sales, gross profit and shrinkage budgets/targets
  • Assisting ASM with Personnel cost management, including rostering
  • Assisting ASM to lead and provide ongoing support, training and development for your team including performance management.
  • Assisting ASM with safety & compliance management including participation in Department audits
  • Assisting ASM to ensure accuracy of purchase orders & invoices, including placing of claims
  • Be aware of & follow all Company’s procedures and policies
  • Possible use of cash registers at times.
  • Effective communication ensuring good relationships with ASM, Store Manager, Team Members as well as Contractors and Suppliers
  • Ensure a happy workplace where people love to come and work.
