Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all administrative functions of the unit, maintains and calculates payroll reports for the department. Supports members of the medical staff including the medical director and Chairperson.
Acts as liaison between physicians and unit requirements, maintains staff schedules and assists in maintaining proper staffing levels, maintains employee benefit records, acts as recording secretary for all departmental functions, arranges monthly statistical reports, promotes guest relations, responsible for patient intakes, insurance verification and proper patient placement with the in-patient units, keeps admission call log.
Protects and maintains patient confidentiality, provides staff training on the hospital computer system. Arrange departmental conferences and meetings. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty, or in another patient care unit as assigned by Nurse Manager or Director of behavioral services.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an approved program for unit coordinator, or equivalent experience.
  • Holds current Heart-saver card.
  • Strong computer and typing skills, working knowledge of medical terminology and legible handwriting.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
