Nau mai haere mai ki tā mātou whānau | Welcome to our Fulton Hogan Family We are seeking an experienced Department Manager to oversee our contract on the Chatham Islands. You will lead a close-knit team of 14, including Mechanics, Operators, and Waste Minimisation crews. In this position, you will be responsible for contract and financial management, pricing and tendering, and fostering a culture that prioritises people and safety. This unique role comes with its own set of challenges and rewards, thanks to the Island’s distinctive location. You will also be involved in managing logistics to ensure smooth operations. This contract is highly collaborative due to the nature of the island and the limitations it poses to getting work done there. The client, consultant, and Fulton Hogan work closely together to achieve the best outcome for the island. This is across the roading, water and waste management spaces meaning you are involved in infrastructure across the Chatham’s. In addition to the above you will: Develop and mentor staff, supporting professional growth and training opportunities Manage resource allocation and scheduling to optimise productivity and minimise downtime Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and the local community Identify and mitigate risks, including environmental and operational hazards Report regularly on project progress, financial status, and compliance to senior management Drive continuous improvement in operational processes and outcomes The ideal candidate will live on Chatham Island or be willing to relocate permanently, embracing the island lifestyle and close-knit community.
