You’ll manage the full lifecycle of surveying activities, from initial scoping and tendering through to execution and project completion, while ensuring our values guide your decision‑making and leadership. Mō te tūranga | About the role The Survey Department Manager oversees the accurate and safe delivery of all surveying services, along with people leadership, workload planning, and equipment management. You’ll also provide strong commercial oversight across budgeting, tendering, contract management, and financial performance. A key focus of the role is fostering a high‑performance, safety‑driven culture while developing team capability and maintaining strong client relationships. Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities Lead and develop the Survey team, promoting a safe and high‑performance culture. Oversee daily survey operations, including workload planning and equipment calibration. Ensure accurate surveying, quality documentation, and reliable data and reporting. Manage tendering, scheduling, subcontractors, and overall operational delivery. Monitor budgets, costs, billing, and department profitability. Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders while representing Fulton Hogan well. Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with BE, BSurv or NZCE or significant industry experience (Diploma in engineering, surveying or relevant industry) Minimum 5 years relevant experience Competent with Trimble equipment, and Auto Cad Civil 3D software Experience managing and developing teams (preferred) Relevant knowledge and understanding of tendering, estimating and delivery of multiple sites/ projects Familiar with NZS3910, Construction Contracts Act and an understanding of estimating with a focus on building up costs on a first principles bases and assessment of margin/profit calculations.
