SUMMARY

We are seeking a Greenhouse Department Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day sales and operations of the department, serving customers, developing staff, and internal communications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory role in a high-volume retail setting.
  2. Ability to meet the physical and environmental demands of the job, including but not limited to:
    · Lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
    · Lifting up to 30 lbs above shoulder height
    · Pushing/pulling more than body weight
    · Repeated movements, especially gripping and pinching
    · Bending, crouching, kneeling
    · Frequent equipment and tool use; some ladder use
    · Standing and walking for extended periods on concrete floors and in safety footwear
    · Working indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions;
    · Working with live plant material.
  3. Experience with Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
  4. Hands-on experience with POS systems for the purposes of managing inventory and analyzing sales patterns.
  5. Exhibits a customer-minded, sales-focused approach.
  6. Experience working with live plant material or perishable product a strong asset.
    Note that this is a safety sensitive environment. CSA approved green-patch footwear is mandatory.

Responsibilities
  1. Executes sales goals for the department.
  2. Exhibits excellent internal and external customer service.
  3. In collaboration with buyers, monitors and manages product assortment and ensures the sales floor is full and fresh.
  4. Prepares merchandise for sale and merchandises product into impactful , inspirational, and well-maintained displays.
  5. Ensures the department is kept to store standards regarding cleanliness, freshness, organization, and merchandising.
  6. Directs and supervises employees on daily tasks, schedules break periods, and work hours for the department.
  7. Interviews job applicants, provides training, evaluates and develops employee performance within the department.
