Overview
In accordance with article 6.2.2 (Notification of Courses) of the Contract Faculty Collective Agreement, applications are invited for the following courses, to be offered during the following session:
Fall 2025
MTH 153 History of Musical Theatre (online or in-person) – Tuesday/Thursday 13:00 to 14:29
This course will cover the field of popular musical theatre from its origins in 19th- century comic opera and operetta; and then Broadway musicals of Kern, Rogers and Hart/Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe; the more sophisticated works of Bernstein. The new “Golden Age” with sophisticated Sondheim; the blockbuster shows of Andrew Lloyd Weber, Shonberg/Boublil and Disney; “Poperettas”; Juke-box Musicals; and subjects as diverse as Wicked, Book of Mormon and Hamilton will also be covered.
The course will be allotted in accordance with the Contract Faculty Collective Agreement, including the applicable rules for seniority.
Contract faculty members who have seniority points may simply submit a letter of interest via e-mail. Other candidates should submit full applications by e-mail (covering letter, curriculum vitae, and any other materials required to demonstrate that they have the necessary expertise to teach the course) to rosmun@ubishops.ca by 4:00 PM August 25, 2025.
Remuneration is $9560.92, with travel and marking expenses provided where appropriate. Only those applicants chosen for an interview will be contacted.
