Job Description: The department trainer has the direct responsibility of training team members in daily operations, providing guidance and support to ensure the team’s member proficiency. This role plays a pivotal role in driving the facility's objectives, specifically focusing on maintaining a high standard of safety, ensuring product quality, and achieving on-time delivery as products transition from one department to the next. Additionally, they contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide training to new and transferred employees joining the department. Conduct cross-training initiatives within the department. Evaluate and document the progress of employees' skill levels. Conduct retraining sessions to address departmental quality issues. Perform audits to ensure production and quality standards are met. Assist in resolving challenges or areas of concern within the department. Utilize and update Work Instructions to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Administer a Trainer's "report card" to assess trainee performance. Serve as a role model by demonstrating positive behaviors. Requirements Skills and Abilities for Success in this Position: Deep knowledge of the training subjects. Clear communication of information and ideas. Engaging delivery of training sessions. Adjust training approaches to meet diverse learning needs. Analytical decision-making to weigh costs and benefits effectively. Attention to detail for precise training delivery. Assess trainees' progress and performance. Proactive in identifying and addressing potential training issues. Develop effective training materials. Understand trainees' questions and feedback. Ability to work independently or as part of a training team. Knowledge, Education, and or Experience Required: 3-5 years of experience in the production department. Possesses knowledge and practical experience in the training topic area. Understands, applies, and delivers training based on principles of adult cognition/learning. Has a working knowledge of all processes and procedures required to perform all functions within the department. Able to drive a forklift. Physical Requirements: Capable of working in a non-climate-controlled environment with ambient air temperatures exceeding outside air temperature. Able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods. Capable of climbing into and out of the interior of boats. Must wear appropriate safety equipment, including a respirator when required. Able to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
