The Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS) is an academic unit for research and teaching in history of science, philosophy of science, science policy, and science communication. Science and Technology Studies is a well established, international academic discipline. All subjects that fall under the broad category of STEMM are included as “science and technology”.

ABOUT YOU

We are keen to hear from applicants with a proven track record in a senior role in administration, operations and management within a higher education environment. You will have a strong record of recruiting, managing and developing staff effectively and demonstratable experience of effective budgetary management. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to explain complex issues in a concise manner to academic and professional services colleagues.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Departmental Manager will provide operational leadership including developing and evolving administrative procedures as required and ensure the operational services are delivered in an efficient, responsive and professional manner.
The Departmental Manager will assume full responsibility for the management and development of professional services within the Department, ensuring that systems are fit for purpose and that UCL, faculty and departmental polices and strategies are fully implemented at all times.
