[Please indicate your exam and list number or comparable title on your resume.] Major Responsibilities - The Deputy Administrator for Van Cortlandt Park oversees the maintenance and operations at Van Cortlandt Park, providing leadership in maintaining, operating and improving this park, working closely with the Administrator of Van Cortlandt Park and reporting to the Borough Chief of Operations. - Oversee maintenance and operations to a high standard, constantly improving this flagship park to keep it clean, safe and beautiful for visitors. - Aggressively pursue the immediate correction of safety hazards and ensure park features are inspected daily. - Manage and direct complex jobs and projects that require prompt attention and resolution. - Plan and implement actions to improve the district’s ratings as determined by the Parks Inspection Program (PIP). - Work closely with the Administrator and others in planning and overseeing capital and restoration projects. - Serve as a liaison between Maintenance & Operations and various partners. - Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being fully implemented on the prescribed schedule. - Oversee Other than Personal Services budgets, including grant funding. - Monitor Parks vehicle dispatching and equipment deployment to ensure proper use and maintenance. - Supervise bi-weekly schedules. Track employees’ compensatory time, annual leave, sick leave and overtime. - Oversee staff development, training and disciplinary actions and all supporting paperwork. - Assist Administrator in preparation of strategic plans for Van Cortlandt Park. - Plan, attend and oversee events and programs as needed, in support of the Administrator. - Attend community board meetings as needed, in support of the Administrator and respond to the needs of community organizations, partnership groups and public officials. - Enforce compliance with Parks & Recreation’s rules, regulations, standards of conduct, uniform codes and vehicle operating procedures. - Work directly with New York City Police Department and Park Enforcement Patrol to address security concerns.
