The Supervising Deputy Attorney General is a working supervisor who organizes, monitors, and directs a team of professionals, including attorneys, paralegals, and auditors, working in the criminal prosecution of complex matters often involving various forms of fraud, AB 1506 officer-involved shooting incidents, tax and underground economy violations, human trafficking, and political integrity; develops strategy and tactics in complex litigation; personally performs the most difficult and complex legal work requiring the highest level of knowledge and independent judgment; appears before federal and state courts on the most difficult and sensitive cases; advises public officials and public agencies on legal issues; conducts or supervises special investigations of a sensitive nature; drafts and analyzes legislative measures; handles general administrative tasks; evaluates the performance of supervised staff and takes appropriate action; participates in the selection process for staff; provides training for legal and law enforcement personnel. The position may require travel to supervise staff and to fully participate in investigations and prosecutions in other locations.
