DESCRIPTION

In addition to the core responsibilities of team leading a motor team, the deputy Business Unit Director will assist the Business Unit Director in achieving the financial, technical and people management targets for the Business Unit whilst ensuring Client’s SLA’s and internal Objectives, benchmarks and KPI’s are delivered.
Driving engagement and motivating the teams to ensure individuals are given every opportunity to maximize their potential to progress within the wider motor division.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Experience of managing within a fast-paced high volume multi-disciplined unit.
  • Experience of financial management
  • Proven track record of people leadership.
  • Proven track record of working as an operational lead such as a Team Leader or equivalent operational responsibility
  • Prior knowledge and understanding, preferably with practical experience of claims handling and claims management including insight in to budgeting and forecasting
  • Complete technical competency to handle and supervise litigated RTA cases up to a value of £25k, both portal and no portal matters.
  • The ability to inspire others to give of their best and foster career development.
  • The ability to analyse complex MI data, draw conclusions and set action plans for improvement.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships within and outside the business.
  • Effective complaint handling and claim quality analysis skills.
  • Ability to objectively review performance issues and deal with them effectively.
  • Ability to set clear direction for others.
  • High level of communication skills, written, verbal and listening.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to foster team working and drive positive morale.
  • Ability to influence staff and upward management of client account managers and the business unit director.

Responsibilities
  • Delivery of your aligned team budgets within the motor division.
  • Ensure your aligned motor teams have the appropriate processes in place so the quality of work delivered meets any internal and external client requirements/benchmarks, including compliance with the firm’s quality management procedures
  • Ensure your aligned teams have an appropriate people structure in place to deal effectively and profitably with the work in the unit and to liaise with the BUD not less than monthly to discuss capacity/structural changes required.
  • Ensure your aligned teams have a comprehensive and effective programme of training, development and supervision to support induction and progression
  • Develop a performance culture within the teams, ensuring individuals have agreed, Objectives and KPIs and a clear focus achieving objectives and maximising performance
  • Provide, analyse and present accurate and timely management information, both internally and to clients, as required
  • Regularly review processes and practices within the unit to drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Driving a consistent and effective structure of communication across your aligned motor teams including regular team meetings, 1 to 1 meetings, performance reviews and career development discussions
  • Ensuring each member of your aligned teams has a Personal Development Plan in place linked to their own career goals and chosen pathway
  • Assist in delivering an environment where high morale an engagement exists, where staff are encouraged to participate in improving morale and where success is celebrated as a team
  • Act as a role model for the companies shared values whilst creating an environment where the unit embrace the values as part of their working day.
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with all key client stakeholders to assist in influencing the operational management of the unit.
  • Possibility of also managing a motor team in addition to the DBUD duties.
    Working Hours
    Whilst the core working hours are 9.00 am to 5.00 pm the deputy business unit director will be expected to work such hours as are necessary to achieve their targets and it is expected that if the demands of work require it, longer hours will be worked to achieve these expectations.
