JOB TITLE: Deputy care home manager
HOURS: 25 hours minimum - made up of rota and off-rota hours
REPORTS TO: TheRegistered Manager

Responsibilities

As Deputy Manager you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and strategic development of Griffin Social Care. Working alongside the Service Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality, compliant and person-centred care, whilst demonstrating a positive and supportive environment for those we support and for staff.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Management
· To deputise for the manager in their absence, taking responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the service
· To provide strong leadership, guidance and supervision to the team promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement
· To assist with recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of staff, ensuring a competent staff team
· To conduct regular staff supervision and appraisal, identifying training needs and supporting professional growth
· To effectively manage staff rota’s, always ensuring appropriate staffing levels
· To address and resolve day to day operational issues efficiently and effectively
2. Quality Assurance and Compliance
· Ensure the service operates in full compliance with CQC standards, KLOE’s, Skills for Care code of conduct and internal policies and procedures
· Actively participate in weekly quality checks of documentation, care delivery and physical environment, implementing corrective action in a timely manner
· Assist in the development and review of care plans, protocols and risk assessments that reflects individual needs and preferences
· Act upon complaints, incidents and accidents in line with Griffin Social Care policies and procedures, ensuring lessons learned are implemented
3. Person Centerd Care
· To champion person centred care, promoting the independence, dignity and choice of those we support
· To ensure those we support receive safe, effective, meaningful, compassionate and responsive care
· To advocate for an individuals rights and preferences, empowering them to make informed choices and decisions about their care
· To work collaboratively with MDT’s, families and external professionals to deliver an holistic approach to care
4. Health and Safety
· To promote and maintain a safe environment for those we support, staff, visitors and contractors in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act
· To ensure all risk assessments are completed, reviewed and updated regularly
· To oversee the safe administration and management of medication is appropriately delegated where applicable
· To ensure all staff are aware of and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, reporting any concerns promptly
5. Administration and Communication
· To ensure and maintain accurate and up to date records , ensuring confidentiality and compliance with GDPR regulations
· To promote a positive culture that is open and transparent
· To prepare reports and provide data as required by the manager or directors
· To develop effective communication within the team, with those we support and their families, and with external agencies
· To participate in weekly management meetings and contribute to strategic planning
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
· Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care ( or equivalent qualification) or be willing to work towards it
· Demonstrable experience in a supervisory or senior care role within a social care setting
· Sound knowledge of CQC standards and other relevant legislation
· Proven ability to lead, motivate and supervise a team
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
· Strong understanding of person-centred care principles
· Ability to work effectively and manage challenging situations
· Flexibility with working patterns
Desirable:
· A valid UK driving license
· Shows an interest in professional development
· Experience with Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviours, PBS, Makaton and non-verbal communication
· Experience in conducting audits and implementing quality improvement initiatives
