Description:

Under limited supervision of a higher classified employee, this position is responsible for performing a variety of routine, non-routine and sensitive bookkeeping and legal duties. Must perform a variety of duties with accuracy and detail and assist the public in person and on the phone. The position also requires the ability to read and comprehend Colorado State Statute.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Requires a level of knowledge and ability to handle all routine tasks and projects and/or solve unusual or unique tasks with limited assistance in the full range of job duties. Such a level is generally acquired through a minimum of two years office experience. Some bookkeeping experience is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must be able to perform at better than average competence at general clerical and office software skills.
Must have better than average understanding of bookkeeping practices and concepts.
Ability to accurately and effectively transmit and receive information that is necessary to the accomplishment of goals and objectives including effective written and oral communication; ability to keep customers, subordinates, peers, and supervisors informed; and the ability to listen.
Able to maintain courteous and effective working relationships with the public, County departments, co-workers and other agencies.
Computer proficiency required, with an ability to learn and master several different software applications used within the office to include MS-Office.
Requires a level of knowledge and ability to accomplish tasks or projects in a consistent and accurate manner, paying close attention to detail, and in a variety of situations.
Proficient in the use of other office equipment such as: 10-Key adding machine or calculator, multi-function copier, and typewriter.
Must have the ability to handle large amounts of cash and make change accurately.
Requires the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have working telephone can be either cell or home phone
Must pass background check: Criminal and Financial
Required legal authorization to work -
United States citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
Compliance with County policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Requires the capability to do the following activities: standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling. Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Must be capable of bending and keyboarding. Speaking and hearing voice conversation is essential to job performance. Clear vision at 20 inches or less and up to 20 feet or more.

Responsibilities:

Process Tax Lien Redemptions, receive and receipt tax payments, provide Certificates of Taxes Due, and perform any functions related to opening or closing the office.
Provide back-up assistance to the Treasurer as needed. In such areas as counter assistance, handling mail, answering telephones and posting taxes and preparing for annual Tax Lien Sale.
Communicate with realtors, mortgage companies and distressed homeowners and assist with problem resolution.
Maintain and update filing and record-keeping systems, including confidential records for Treasurer’s Office.
Prepare and process Treasurer’s Deeds per Colorado Statute including; research, data entry of information, balancing monthly fund and preparing Treasurer’s Deeds under direct supervision.
Perform additional duties and special projects of technical or confidential nature as required.
