ROLE SUMMARY:

Davenport Lodge Nursery School has been delivering education since 1968. We provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment where children from birth to rising five learn and have fun together. We firmly believe that every child is capable of great success and our dedicated staff work with the children to achieve their personal best. High expectations and success within a positive environment encourage children to be confident, independent learners.
We are now looking for a Deputy Head to join the nursery. This is a dual teaching role, and leadership role which includes leading the teaching practice in the school and ensuring the children experience a rich early years’ learning curriculum that enables them to develop the knowledge and skills to become ready for school. As well as being an experienced Early Years Teacher, you will work in partnership with parents to develop positive and effective relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable for the delivery of high quality inclusive early education, which is responsive to the needs of children and their families
• Assist the Head in the day to day management of the school
• Deputise for the Head when they are not on site
• Promote the ethos of the school and have a high regard for the culture of the school including behavior and attitude of staff and children
• Ensure that all teachers understand the principles and content of the Early Years Foundation Stage and know how to put them in to practice
• Influence and shape the policies and practices of the school and share collective responsibility for their implementation
• Participate in staff reviews as requested by the Head including appraisal procedures, supervisions and staff observations.
• Be one of the Safeguarding Leads in the nursery school
